Straight from a Toddler's Mouth!

I was helping Marshall with a project that he was putting togther with a hammer and nails. I tried to help him hammer and he said, "Mommy you can't hammer, you're not a guy! Daddy's a guy, Damon's a guy and I'm a guy, but you're not a guy, yet!" ~September 2010

This morning I heard Eric say, "Don't do that Damon." (chuckle chuckle) I walked around the corner and found Damon squeezing the cup of my bra that was hanging from the doorknob and saying "squeak, squeak." ~April 2010

Me: "Damon, what is Christmas all about?" D: "Santa!" M: "No, whose birthday is on Christmas?" D: "My birthday!" M: "No, silly, it's Jesus' birthday!" D: "No, Mrs. Johnson said Christmas is my birthday!" M: "I'm pretty sure Mrs. Johnson told you it's Jesus' birthday!" D: Pauses..."Jesus told me it's MY birthday...!" Sigh! ~December 2009

From the backseat...Marshall: Damon stop spitting! Damon: I'm not doing anyfing! I'm just spitting Jingle Bells! ~December 2009

Damon upon seeing the first snow fall, "Snow! Can we get out the boat with the rope?" ~December 2009

Anyone who comes into contact with Marshall when Damon isn't around can still tell that he has a big brother. The other day at daycare, my babysitter overheard Marshall talking to one of the little boys who is about 15 months old. He said, "No, Nolan. Don't make me fight you. You're a baby." Oh no, I have the daycare bully! ~September 2009

Damon has started skipping naps now and then on the weekend. I've told him that he has to have quiet time, but since he is a big boy, he doesn't have to take a nap if he is not tired. One day while Marshall was napping and he wasn't, he said, "Someday, Marshall is going to be a big boy like me. He will get big and be just like me, so there will be two Damons." I said, "Wow, two Damons?! That's scary!" He replied, "That's not scary Mommy, that's cute!" ~August 2009

We were driving to the babysitters house one morning and out of the blue Damon said, "Mommy, when I get big I want to be a mommy." I told him that when he got big he couldn't be a mommy, but he could be a daddy. He pouted and said firmly, "But I don't want to be a daddy, I want to be a mommy." ~August 2009

When Marshall falls asleep at night I can hear him in the monitor saying, "No Katie, No Wooby," over and over again. Katie and Ruby are 2 little girls at daycare and he talks about them all the time! ~April 2009

When Kiley was about 6 years old, she said when she was old enough, she was going to be on American Juniors, a show that was like American Idol for kids. When I asked her what she would sing, she replied very confidently, "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe!" ~2003

On Easter monring, I was walking down the stairs with Damon as we were getting ready to leave for Church. I had a long pink skirt on. He touched my skirt and said, "You a princess, Mommy!" I think it was the sweetest compliment I've ever received. Sniff, sniff.~April 2009

The other night I told Damon we were having quesadillas. He got so excited and just started singing "quesadillas! quesadillas!" over and over again. Then he started leading me upstairs to Kiley's room saying "come on Mommy, we have to get the quesadillas." He led me to her closet and that's when I realized he thought I was talking about Kiley's DS! He is obsessed with her Nintendo DS and only gets to play with it on special occasions. It was too cute. ~March 2009

This quote isn't from a toddler's mouth, but still quite cute. I was having a conversation with Kiley the other day and it went something like this. "What are you giving up for Lent?" Kiley responded, "Well, I'm not really giving up anything for Lent this year because I already feel like I eat pretty healthy. So I have decided that for Lent I am going to try and be a better person, by doing things like getting my homework done early." When did my little girl grow up to such a sweet 11 year old?~March 2009

Me-"Damon, are you a bear?"

Damon-"No Mommy, I not a bear."

Me-"Are you a boy?"

Damon-"Yeah, I'm a boy."

Me-"Is Mommy a boy?"

Damon-"No, you not a boy."

Me-"Is Mommy a girl?"

Damon-"No Mommy, you not a girl, you cute."~February 2009

Recently, Damon was doing something to "test" me, and I said, "Damon, I'm not playing that game." The other night, Damon was playing with my large exercise ball and Marshall came up to try and play too. I heard Damon say to him very sternly, "Marshall, I'm not playing that game." Apparantly, he does hear what I say! ~January 2009

A few weeks ago, we were at McDonalds with my mother and father-in-law and niece and nephew. Damon was running around and stopped at our table for a second. He grunted and made his "poopy" face. Then he looked at me and said, "I can't do my poopy, Mommy," and took off running again. ~January 2009
